Stand Tall Fool Dishing out a little of the bliss malish Bent over snapped lightning under blitz the system Feed a little terror to the heart, still warm in memorium But careless is the hold, the fucker has been sold Fool You’re dishing out a little of the bliss malish Bent over snapped lightning under blitz the system Feed a little terror to the heart, still warm in memorium But careless is the hold, the fucker has been sold Fool You’re dishing out a little of the bliss malish Bent over snapped lightning under blitz the system Feed a little terror to the heart, still warm in memorium But careless is the hold, the fucker has been sold Serenity midnight’s unseen hand Serenity midnight’s unseen hand I stripped this tired clown of heart And threw the weakest pieces out Called animal need, rain razor shine Screw system-boy to the ground Oh get real, fool You’re dishing out a little of the bliss malish Bent over snapped lightning under blitz the system Feed a little terror to the heart, still warm in memorium But careless is the hold, the fucker has been sold Serenity midnight’s unseen hand come ploughing down silent, planted steel, gospel deep Big emotions in a small-minded world This is the system, oh fuck the system This is where I leave you all behind, the aim of your hearts having proved unsound Let it rain razor shine Let it rain razor shine

Walked a rain-soaked dizzy walk Wires singing me home Talking to myself like an old man, old man gone Pushed your face from the trees Spitting gutter-speak and shades of loss unbound Of ‘where’ and ‘why’ and fuck this random cruelty We all ride its back unwillingly Pushed your face from the trees And pictured you cat-curled up in a sleeping frown Nursing in-retreat a warm heart bruised, a cold-lipped kiss I hear it

Pound useless pound Pound useless Pound useless pound, memory

Eggman come - what do you remember? Eggman come - I remember the distance What do you remember? distance I remember, I remember the distance I am the Eggman In your skin, sitting ill at ease I make my home inside the wormholes of your heart diseased Three strikes to the Eggman, for his teeth are in my being All the ego’s children have been slashed I remember I remember the distance I remember I remember the distance You’re king in my heart But the fires are shut You’re out on the street boy And the lights are out I remember

King Circuit 02:05
I’m doing the robotic two-step I’ve come out of the other side Got a silver suit and I’ll use it I’ve seen the Angels flicker in your eyes Seen the Angels flicker in your eyes

about

Lightarmour Editions - LE | 005

Following the demise of the first version of Crimson Boy in 1990, the 12" single "Desolation Angel / Neon Dog" (1991) became the prototype for a new solo identity that would later become Fate Razor. The first defined track - "Angelignite" originated in 1993; with "ColdComfort Logic" following in 1994 shortly after relocating to Melbourne and the very fertile 'Industrial' scene active there at the time. These two tracks, along with "Love Gone Wrong Song", "Love Gone Wrong Song 3am", "BlackGuard Wolfpack" and "Dead Dreams Bloom" were released on various compilation albums in Australia and the USA including the much sought-after "Re-Evolution" CD, as well as "Reload", "Circuit Noir", "Vulgar Tongue”, “Blatant Propaganda Volume 1”, and “Dark Eyed And Starry They Were” etc.

A self-titled Fate Razor album was set for release in early 1996, spurred by preliminary interest from Chicago's infamous Wax Trax Records, but matters of fate intervened. Some of that material will surface in the following Retrospective EP#2. "Three of Swords" and "King Circuit" were written after returning to Perth in mid 1996 and featured on further obscure compilation CD's.

Retrospective EP#1 then, is a snapshot of the sound and the headspace of that era - dimly lit swansongs to lost love, Sitiuationist manifestos and globalist defiance delivered via Dalek agitation, deity-destroying mantras in metallic glitter, nihilism, angst, and the raw thrill of sampling and sound. All these songs were sequenced on an Atari 1040STE with 2mb of RAM, Roland JV880 and Juno 106 synths, a Zoom effects box, and a collection of Akai samplers (later replaced with the Ensoniq ASR-10 workstation). The software was Emagic's “Notator” - a beautifully primitive-looking black and white screen of pure mathematics disguised as a songwriting tool; still the tightest and most powerful sequencing programme by far.

The original songs have been tweaked very subtly, and remastered to bring out the qualities that were buried beneath the din. Thankyou to DJ and music aficionado Brad Smart for forwarding the only existing copy of the original song files, seemingly lost for many years.

about

Fate Razor Perth, Australia

Fate Razor is the long-running side project of Vince Valentini - producer, and one half of Crimson Boy. Its the Mr Hyde of CB's Dr Jekyll - a harsher, darker twin soul fastened to a dense propulsive sound that melds industrial noise, dub, electronica, and bastardised Hip-hop. After a hiatus of over a decade, two EP's of songs sourced from '93 onwards are been released in prep for new material. ... more
